Apple iPhone 5 and A5 chip - Highly Possible

in Apple

Currently, the spec sheet of the up and coming Apple iPhone 5 is a mystery. The Cupertino firm has proved to be tight-lipped about disclosing hardware specifications and features of their unreleased products. However, there are some rumors that suggest this iOS smartphone will come packed with the A5 chip under the hood.

It seems Apple's rivals are putting a large emphasis on hardware. The Korean tech giant has released its current flagship the Galaxy S2. This behemoth of an Android Gingerbread-powered handset rocks a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor Exynos chipset with an onboard Mali-400MP GPU for better graphics. The Taiwanese phone giant has also released a powerhouse of a mobile phone with the Sensation. This phone packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor Qualcomm MSM 8260 Snapdragon chipset with an integrated Adreno 220 GPU for intense graphics. Other phone manufacturers such as Motorola and LG have also released flagships with dual-core chips, the Atrix and the Optimus 2X respectively. With its rivals releasing powerhouse smartphones, the Cupertino-based tech mogul is most likely to do the same.

With the competition releasing phones equipped with dual-cores, there a number of experts who believe that Apple will do the same. However, there are also some who believe that the house of Jobs will be releasing an entry-level handset. Some say that they will be introducing a cheaper version of their 4th generation smartphone. It is said to be named the iPhone 4S. This will not be the powerhouse everyone expects. Some experts believe that the Cupertino firm will release not one but two iOS handsets in either September or October. They say the iPhone 5 will be accompanied by the entry-level handset.

There are certainly conflicting reports surrounding Apple's 5th generation smartphone. However, most believe that the Apple iPhone 5 will come packed with the A5 chip similar to the processor on the iPad 2. This will further enhance the phone's performance.

The 1 GHz dual-core processor ARM Cortex-A9 Apple A5 chipset with an integrated PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU is a monster of a chipset. This chip allowed the iPad 2 to do things never thought possible. It allowed users to multi-task like never before. It allowed users to play games that rival console gaming platforms. It definitely takes graphics and functionality tom whole new heights.

Will the Apple iPhone 5 come packed with the A5 chip under the hood? This is definitely highly possible. However, there is no telling what the house of Jobs has is actually planning.
